6 to 6.75 stars: High Average.
These movies follow genre conventions pretty closely and some are popular among genre fans, but they suffer from poorer execution or budgets. They are enjoyable but necessarily ‘good.’ Most are an acquired taste. Examples: W Django!, El Rojo, and Ringo Face of Revenge.
Many of the Eurowesterns that I am most fond of are found among these movies. A “*” is used to indicate this ‘fondness’.’

El Puro (1969, Edoardo Mulargia)*
This movie is #38 on the SWDB essential westerns list and it is #19 on SWDB’s Alternative Top 20. These rankings represent the fondness that many fans have for this film as well as the very similar Black Jack (1968). Both are no-budget, gritty, grindhouse-flea pit cult classics.

- I don’t speak Swedish, but I still found this early Scandanavian comedy western enjoyable. Though it relies on sight gags and slapstick, it is still a bit more clever than most of the later Italian comedy westerns.

The Specialist (1969, Sergio Corbucci)
This movie is #40 on SWDB’s best westerns list and it is #3 on SWDB’s Alternative Top 20. Needless to say, I think that this over-rating a mediocre and disappointing effort from Corbucci.
